It’s been a quiet few months but it has not been a bore. In fact, we are beaming with joy and excitement over the coming of a new addition to our family.

Yes, we’re expecting!!

We’ve been focused on making sure that our little boy (yep, it’s a he!) gets all the attention he needs, so we are temporarily storing our gears away, but not for personal photos (and ooh there’s been lots!). Meantime, we hope you continue to come back and visit, up until the day we’re all just about ready to do that one thing we love doing — photography.

It was a beautiful weekend, so much so that the location we agreed to do the shoot was literally packed with locals and tourists alike. Parking was not only difficult, it was almost impossible to find a spot. Every nook and cranny of the place was not without a family enjoying their picnic, or a couple just leisurely whiling the time away, or a dog walking his master (err, it should be the other way around right?) .. well, you get the picture. But none of those casted a gloomy cloud over the excitement that was looming ahead. We have planned for this shoot a couple of times – probably even more! – in the past, but has never gotten to it for a myriad of reasons: weather, schedule, commitments. So when finally the day has come, no crowd is thick enough to stop us from doing things as planned. And we’re beyond glad that it did finally push through!

Meet Alex, our little cutie patootie. This photoshoot is really about and for him, and his Nanay and Tatay made sure he came in prepared.

The family who made sure there were enough coo and cheers to keep Alex smiling and chirpy.

But of course, it wouldn’t have been the same if Nanay and Tatay were not there.

Our little model was showing signs of sleepiness, but he was definitely not slowing down.

Who said a photoshoot should only be done once? Nahh, that doesn’t apply to Herb. Once is never enough, twice is no way too much. The same is true for ice cream, or shoes, or bags, or … err, ok, I’m digressing. Anyway, here are the photos from the recent session we had with Herb. Enjoy!

Bel and Jon defied the norms of falling of in love — they did it the long, but sure, way. Theirs was not a sudden desire to jump into a relationship, to try and see how it’ll go, and just throw all cares to the wind. They founded their love on true friendship, real perspectives of themselves (not just best foot forward), and in such a deep faith and gratitude to God. So when Joyce asked me to co-shoot their engagement photos, I did not hesitate jumping on the next available flight to meet this beautiful couple.


We were up early to catch the sunrise, and it sure did not disappoint.

Then off we went to Jekyll Island in Georgia, which is an hour-long drive from where they live. After long months of harsh winter, Minnesota style, this sight made made me sigh and stare in quiet awe.

Bel and Jon, I pray with you in your commitment to loving and living as one. You’ve shown me how it is still possible to believe, have faith, and wait, and the best will sure follow. It was a very short meet, but thank you for letting me in to your life and story.

It snowed the day before the shoot, but that did not dampen our spirits, nor Herb’s. It was freezing cold outside, but Herb’s smile and gentle ways warmed us up in no time. We were beyond glad that we spent Saturday morning with one of the nicest people we’ve ever met. Hopefully, it won’t be the last.

History had always sounded like a distant past, from where stories were weaved from the threads of hope, courage, wrong decisions, difficult situations, sheer chance, and colorful characters. Today, though, history is a resounding NOW! And I’m proud to be part of the generation who bears witness to one of the momentous pages that will forever be etched on tomorrow’s books.

Where were you when this day happened? Me — I was at work, poring over a list of documents, and going through a typical day. I was not especially earlier than usual, I was not extra kind to anyone, nor was I out-of-my-way fantabulous just because. I guess you could say my day was relatively insignificant, compared to the happenings that were concurrently held in the other parts of the country, and the rest of the world. I do not have a fancy story to tell my future kids other than, ‘Well, Mom was at her desk trying to access CNN through her phone for a live coverage, but their bandwidth was full .. dang!’

And so I write here, just so I won’t forget — that eventhough I may have been a mere spectator from miles away, in my heart, I have as much faith and hope as everybody has. That, indeed, he will carry the torch of change, and that he will pave the way that a leader of his stature, command, and privilege can bring about in this time and age.

First of all, Happy New Year everyone!!
2008 was a very exciting year for WSCoPhotography, for this was when we started to take our love for photography a notch higher. We started with friends who trusted us in capturing the special moments in their lives, and progressed to being invited to cover weddings and family portraits of the special people we’ve met through referrals and the internet. It was such a surreal, humbling experience to be able to capture those moments, and to see the happiness in them whom we’ve taken the pictures for. Here’s hoping that 2009 will bring forth more opportunities for creativity, fun, and adventures in photography. Cheers!!

I’d like to open the year with these photos we’ve taken of Joyce and John. Waltz and I have known Joyce since we started working in a software company in Manila, and have gone on our separate ways after some years. A couple of years ago, the three of us met again when Waltz and I moved to Minnesota, and it’s been a series of fortunate, fun events since then. We met her then-fiance, John, who striked us as a very reserved but very kind man. The union of these two nature-loving, adventurous souls did not come as a surprise, for we knew they were meant for each other, and what a match these two make!

These are their post-nuptial photos, with the bride wearing her beautiful gown and the groom donned in Barong Tagalog – a formal wear for the gentlemen in the Philippines. Post-wedding sessions are so much fun! Aside from the stress of the wedding day being too far from the couple’s minds, we also did not have to worry about the composition of the shots. Joyce was not the bride who worried about how her gown would be messed up by what I wanted her to do, and that definitely added the ‘oomph!’ to the pictures we’ve taken of them. John, too, was in his element that day, as you would see below. They look so good together, I would let the images speak for themselves.

Them red shoes had to be given the center stage too!

The photoshoot was held in Hiawatha, where silos served as our backdrop. The bride so wanted an urban style for their portraits, and she picked the perfect location that delivered more than what we expected.

Joyce and John, here’s wishing you many years of love and friendship! Keep that look of love in those beautiful eyes, and it will always be like seeing the person you fell in love with for the first time all over again.

Christmas carols. Festive colors. Food. Family. Friends. Love. These are some of the things that define Christmas, as different from all other holidays in a year.

You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

We want to know who they are, and we want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography. We’ll be giving away a complimentary portrait session, the digital files and slideshow of the session, and the prints, too. All we need is a deserving person who would cherish captured memories of their family, pet, and/or friends. You have the opportunity to make this a special Christmas gift for a special person, and as a bonus, if you send in the nominee we select, you’ll also receive a complimentary photography session.

The Rules:

You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two million dollar vacation home does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

The nominee must reside within 80 miles of the Minneapolis/St. Paul Area. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve our artwork. Please include your email and or phone with your nomination as well as the best way to get in contact with your nominee. All nominations must be received by midnight, December 24th, and the gift recipient will be announced on the blog on Christmas Day.
